Vice President, Controller

About the role

We are seeking an accomplished Vice President, Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and corporate support functions for our organization and its subsidiaries in San Diego. This senior position blends hands‑on controllership with strategic partnership, guiding a high‑performing team while strengthening financial discipline across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily accounting and controllership activities for the parent company and subsidiaries, ensuring accurate reporting.
• Lead divisional controllers and shared support teams across accounting, tax, financial reporting, and corporate functions.
• Oversee preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with reporting requirements and accounting standards.
• Act as the primary technical accounting resource, developing guidance on acquisitions, revenue recognition, credit losses, fair value, and new standards.
• Strengthen financial governance by refining policies, procedures, internal controls, and adopting automation where appropriate.
• Manage planning and coordination of internal and external audits, annual financial statement reviews, and tax provision processes.
• Provide oversight for equity transactions and stock‑based compensation accounting.
• Build relationships with auditors, legal counsel, banking partners, investors, analysts, and board members.

Required profile

• 10+ years progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 5 years in a controller or senior controllership leadership role.
• Strong foundation in public accounting with extensive experience in financial reporting, compliance, and technical accounting research.
• Active or inactive CPA designation.
• Proven ability to lead accounting organizations in complex business settings and drive accountability.
