Vehicle Reliability Engineer - Night Shift

About the role

Waabi is looking for a Vehicle Reliability Engineer to work the night shift and ensure autonomous vehicles remain safe and operational. You will diagnose issues during testing and on‑road operations, apply temporary fixes, and drive long‑term reliability improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose vehicle issues arising in testing and on‑road operations.
• Implement documented temporary fixes or workarounds while developing permanent solutions.
• Log, track, and document all issues using diagnostic and issue‑tracking systems.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and operations teams to conduct root‑cause analyses.
• Recommend and implement process improvements and preventive measures.
• Serve as the technical point of contact during vehicle testing and support pre‑test and post‑test evaluations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in automotive, robotics, aerospace or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and work night shift hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Linux‑based systems and command‑line diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals.
• Experience with CAN‑bus diagnostics and automotive diagnostic tools.
• Data analysis capability using spreadsheets or scripting languages.
• Familiarity with root‑cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
