Utility Operator

About the role

The Utilities Operator works in a high‑speed brewery environment, ensuring that steam, refrigeration, compressed air, water and CO₂ systems run reliably. The role combines hands‑on maintenance, chemical water treatment, and participation in emergency response teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate brewery utility systems including steam, CO₂ collection, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, dehumidification, compressed air, and water.
• Perform chemical treatment for boiler, cooling tower, and pasteurizer water.
• Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and uptime.
• Document events, respond to department requests, and participate in HAZWOPER emergency response.
• Analyze process data and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives (PDCA, Lean Six Sigma).

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with steam boilers or industrial refrigeration systems.
• Familiarity with automated process control systems and ability to read mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
• Willingness to wear OSHA level A PPE and participate in emergency response.

Required skills

• Steam boiler operation and water‑tube medium‑pressure boiler maintenance.
• Industrial ammonia refrigeration and glycol refrigeration systems.
• Compressed air, cooling tower, and CO₂ collection and liquefaction systems.
• Mechanical maintenance including valve, belt, motor, and gearbox replacement.
• Microsoft Excel and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) proficiency.
