US Advocacy Advisor

About the role

The US Advocacy Advisor will support CIVIC’s US Program by leading advocacy, research, and coordination efforts aimed at preventing and addressing civilian harm related to US military operations, security cooperation, and arms transfers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate advocacy projects on US use of force, security cooperation and civilian harm.
• Conduct policy and legal research, draft briefs, reports, op‑eds and other advocacy products.
• Engage with US government officials, Congressional staff and coalition partners to promote civilian protection.
• Represent CIVIC at public events, media appearances and coalition meetings.
• Support program management tasks including monitoring, evaluation, fundraising and grant writing.

Required profile

• MA/MS or JD (JD preferred) with at least 5 years of experience in policy advocacy, human rights or related fields.
• Deep knowledge of US foreign and national security policy, law and civilian protection.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage projects and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a track record of clear, concise analysis.

• Salary range $76,014–$93,116 annually, commensurate with experience.
