Universal Worker – Skilled Nursing Facility

About the role

The Universal Worker supports the clinical team at Prairie Senior by handling non‑nursing duties that help create a pleasant environment for residents. This full‑time, on‑site position involves a variety of tasks ranging from resident transport to light housekeeping.

Key responsibilities

• Follow resident assignment schedule, communicate resident condition to nursing staff.
• Transport ambulatory residents, push wheelchairs, and assist with room moves.
• Provide personal care such as hair combing and nail care (no clippers).
• Answer call lights, deliver trays, blankets, pillows, and other non‑clinical requests.
• Observe residents, report unusual findings, and maintain safety standards.
• Clean wheelchairs, beds, equipment, and handle linen processing.
• Participate in emergency drills and assist with building activities.
• Perform clerical functions as assigned.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, kneel, and lift over 50 lb safely.
• Capacity to work with residents who may be uncooperative or combative.
• Understanding of Universal Safety Precautions and personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Manual dexterity for personal‑care tasks.
• Basic equipment handling and cleaning.
