Underwriting Specialist / Executive Underwriter – Middle Market Private Equity

About the role

Zurich Middle Markets is expanding its Private Equity practice and seeks an experienced Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter in New York City. The role involves advising private‑equity‑backed organizations on Property & Casualty insurance solutions and influencing portfolio success.

Key responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships with brokers, distribution partners, and customers across diverse industries.
• Evaluate, analyze, and price new and renewal business while maintaining a profitable portfolio.
• Serve as a strategic partner to customers, delivering tailored insurance solutions.
• Collaborate with Claims, Risk Engineering, Finance, Actuarial, and Technical Underwriting teams.
• Identify business development opportunities and deepen broker partnerships.
• Own territory and book of business, balancing growth with disciplined underwriting.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3‑10+ years of experience in underwriting, market‑facing, or claims support roles, depending on level.
• Knowledge of relevant lines of business, legal and regulatory guidelines, and quote time restraints.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
