Unarmed Security Officer - Flexible Shifts

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a Security Officer Flex (unarmed) in Roanoke, Virginia. You will serve and safeguard clients across healthcare, education, finance, retail and other industries. The role is full-time, 30-40 hours per week, with a mix of manager-assigned shifts and self-chosen shifts through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program. Shifts, days, locations and assignments change regularly, and you will be assigned irregular shifts with little to no advance notice.

Key responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized persons to enter, monitor entrances and exits, and observe departing personnel to prevent theft
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents and suspicious activity, keeping written logs as required by the post
• Aid customers, employees and visitors courteously and professionally, and make emergency notifications as needed

Required profile

• Available to work varying shifts, including holidays, nights and weekends, and able to handle last-minute scheduling
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (required for driving positions)
• At least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
• Licensing requirements may apply depending on state and local law
