UI/UX Designer (Remote Opportunity)

About the role

Mind Computing is looking for a full‑time, 100% remote UI/UX Designer to support a project for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The role focuses on applying Human‑Centered Design principles to create accessible, user‑centric digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, testers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective UI/UX solutions.
• Develop research‑oriented questions and leverage indirect user insights when direct access is limited.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma.
• Act as the accessibility subject‑matter expert, guiding teams on Section 508 compliance and accessible design practices.
• Incorporate accessibility considerations throughout the design process and prior to production release.
• Review accessibility findings, provide actionable remediation guidance, and validate corrected implementations.
• Support accessibility testing, audits, and remediation efforts.
• Iterate designs based on feedback from developers, testers, stakeholders, and users within an Agile environment.
• Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or a related field.
• Proven UI/UX design experience with a portfolio showcasing accessible web or application work.
• Strong understanding of Human‑Centered Design principles in complex, constraint‑driven environments.
• Demonstrated experience designing accessible interfaces and advising teams on Section 508 compliance.
• Ability to translate accessibility requirements into practical recommendations for diverse team members.
• Effective collaboration skills with Business Analysts and stakeholders.
