Transportation Technician / CEI Bridge Inspector (All Levels)

About the role

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians and CEI Bridge Inspectors at all experience levels to support field projects around Raleigh. The role combines complex field surveying, construction layout, engineering calculations, and on‑site inspection of roadway and bridge work.

Key responsibilities

• Document daily contractor activities and maintain project field books.
• Prepare density log books, material sampling records, and testing documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of final estimate packages.
• Measure distances, verify dimensions, levels, alignment, and elevations of construction layouts.
• Observe work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Collect material samples for laboratory testing and evaluate workmanship of completed installations.
• Record quantities of materials received or used and maintain daily logs of inspection activities.

Required profile

• High school graduate with at least 4 years of construction inspection experience, including 1+ year in roadway or bridge inspection, OR an AAS in Civil Engineering Technology with 2+ years experience and 1+ year roadway inspection.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Completion of the Critical Structures Construction Issues self‑study course and submission of the certification form.
• Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
