Transportation Project Engineer III/IV

About the role

Gonzalez Companies provides planning, design, and construction‑management services to transportation agencies and municipalities. We are looking for a Transportation Project Engineer III/IV to lead and contribute to the design and delivery of roadway and traffic projects, supporting our clients and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or significantly contribute to the design of transportation projects, including roadway geometry, intersections, pedestrian facilities, drainage, and traffic control.
• Develop and review engineering plans, models, and calculations using MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare design reports, cost estimates, technical memos, specifications, and milestone submittals for DOT, LPA, or municipal agencies.
• Mentor junior engineers, coordinate tasks, and ensure quality review of design documents.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants, utilities, and permitting agencies to meet project requirements and schedules.
• Perform advanced engineering analyses, troubleshoot design challenges, and propose technical solutions.
• Support project planning, scope development, and budgeting as experience allows.
• Participate in QA/QC reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Conduct occasional field investigations, site reviews, or construction support activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5–12+ years of transportation or roadway engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proven ability to mentor staff, manage project portions, and communicate effectively with clients.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
