Trades Technician III – Plumber (Sign‑On Incentive)

About the role

The Facilities Management Division of Orange County Government seeks a skilled Trades Technician III specializing in plumbing. This full‑time position supports the West District by installing, maintaining, and repairing potable water, wastewater, and septic systems while upholding the agency’s high standards of safety and service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair pipes, fixtures, and water distribution components.
• Perform work on potable water, wastewater, and septic systems.
• Interact regularly with staff, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure quality service.
• Schedule, track, and train lower‑level technicians as needed.
• Execute multi‑trade tasks across electrical, HVAC, locksmithing, carpentry, masonry, lighting, audio, telecommunications, and grounds maintenance when required.

Required profile

• Journeyman‑level plumber with proven experience in municipal or commercial plumbing systems.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to mentor junior staff.
