Title Officer – Property Title Specialist

About the role

The Title Officer is responsible for researching public records and examining property titles to determine their legal condition. This role supports both internal teams and external customers by ensuring accurate title information and clear documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Examine and analyze chains of title, deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, and map books to verify ownership and legal description.
• Copy, summarize, and prepare title commitments, endorsements, policies, and credits, pricing them according to fee schedules.
• Maintain title files, respond to customer inquiries, update records, and perform “date‑down” prior to recording documents.
• Prepare write‑ups for title insurance policies and support business development activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; one to three months related experience or training.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents and respond to customer and regulatory inquiries.
• Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

• Proficient use of Ultima.
• Word processing, spreadsheets, and internet software.
• E‑mail and order processing systems.
• Windows operating system.
• Microfilm reel machines and fax machines.
