Test Engineer – EGSE for Spacecraft Avionics

About the role

Moog is looking for a Test Engineer to join the team that designs Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and test scripts for spacecraft avionics. You will own end‑to‑end test solutions, from hardware and software to documentation, and see your work directly contribute to mission readiness and customer acceptance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build EGSE hardware: select COTS instruments, create custom test boxes/panels, and develop cabling and harnesses.
• Develop test software: build LabVIEW UIs, write automation scripts in Python or Perl, and integrate with embedded test code (VxWorks/C).
• Integrate with flight‑like units: interface with embedded SBCs, custom analog/digital I/O, and support EPS/power‑switching use cases.
• Author formal test documentation: Integration & Test Plans, Environmental Test Plans, Acceptance Test Procedures, schematics, and BOMs.
• Execute and improve test campaigns, troubleshoot anomalies, drive root‑cause analysis, and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with systems, firmware, manufacturing test, and program management to meet schedule, cost, and technical goals.

Required profile

• 3+ years of aerospace or defense test engineering experience with hands‑on ownership of EGSE hardware, software, and documentation.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: LabVIEW, C, Python, or Perl.
• Practical experience selecting and integrating COTS instruments and designing custom test fixtures and cable assemblies.
• Ability to write clear Acceptance Test Procedures and maintain accurate schematics and parts lists.
• Strong debugging skills across analog and digital interfaces, comfortable reading schematics and interpreting telemetry.
