Technical Specialist - Hydraulic Systems Designer

About the role

SunSource is seeking a Technical Specialist to design and support custom hydraulic solutions for industrial and mobile equipment. You will work hands‑on with customers and sales teams to bring innovative fluid‑power designs from concept to field implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Design innovative hydraulic systems for industrial and mobile equipment applications.
• Engineer power units and complete hydraulic systems from concept through implementation.
• Partner directly with customers to understand applications, gather data, and confirm designs.
• Troubleshoot field challenges and develop proactive solutions to reduce warranty claims, maintenance issues, and downtime.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to support customers and drive long‑term success.
• Apply creativity and technical expertise to deliver cost‑effective, high‑performance solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑year technical degree (Fluid Power preferred); B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience designing hydraulic systems for industrial or mobile equipment.
• Strong foundation in fluid power principles and system design.
• Ability to think creatively and engineer solutions balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
• Willingness to travel within WA, OR, UT, ID and surrounding regions; valid driver’s license.
