Technical Service Specialist – Surface Treatment

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Service Specialist to join our Surface Treatment team in Tupelo, Mississippi. The role provides first‑line technical support, safety advocacy, and coordination of service activities for customer accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support to customers, delivering in‑depth service and troubleshooting.
• Act as a safety ambassador for customers and complete all required compliance and technical trainings.
• Train plant personnel, conduct line audits, start up new processes, and participate in plant functions such as system clean‑outs and inventory management.
• Plan and execute service visits that add value, strengthen relationships, and produce detailed service reports uploaded to Salesforce.
• Set up accounts with proper process instructions, educate customers on chemical handling, and assist with equipment installation and training.
• Identify business opportunities in collaboration with the Technical Sales Representative.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (high school diploma with extensive experience also considered).
• Minimum 1 year of technical experience with pretreatment, coatings, surface treatment, or metalworking applications.
• Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, and travel 40‑50% of the time with occasional overnight trips.
• Strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and analytical testing skills.
• Experience in inventory management, product ordering, and relationship management with customers’ technical departments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and basic computer skills (MS Office, Salesforce).
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb and stand for long periods.
