Technical Designer – CAD/Inventor Specialist

About the role

Every day we make a positive impact on colleagues, partners, customers and society. As a Technical Designer at Alfa Laval you will coordinate and execute technical activities on assigned projects using Autodesk Inventor, ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate 3D drawings, models and assemblies independently using Autodesk Inventor and iLogic automation.
• Interpret engineering notes and sketches, resolve design issues, and verify feasibility of incoming orders.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, project managers, customers, suppliers and shop personnel to ensure design compliance and timely releases.
• Maintain order tracking systems, verify bills of materials and support regulatory documentation such as Canadian Registration Numbers.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Design or Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
• Minimum 4 years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the air‑cooled heat exchanger industry.
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII pressure vessel code and related ANSI, ASTM, API standards is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and iLogic automation.
• Experience with AutoCAD Inventor 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of industrial piping and design principles.
• Understanding of bill of materials management and order tracking systems.
• Awareness of regulatory documentation requirements (e.g., Canadian Registration Numbers).
