About the role
The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites applications for a full‑time, renewable, non‑tenure‑track Teaching Assistant Professor of Classical Studies. The position begins in August 2027, carries a 4/4 teaching load, and includes coordination of the Ancient Greek and Latin language programs.
Key responsibilities
- Teach Ancient Greek and Latin courses at all levels, including large enrollment classes on ancient Greek, Roman, and Mediterranean culture.
- Serve as language program coordinator, overseeing introductory curricula and managing teaching assistants and instructors.
- Maintain regular on‑campus presence to support high‑quality instruction and student learning.
- Participate in departmental activities that advance teaching quality and student success.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Classical Studies or a closely related field, completed by August 1 2027.
- Demonstrated record of exceptional undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
- Ability to teach both Latin and Classical Greek.
- Experience developing effective undergraduate courses and mentoring independent research.
- Active engagement in scholarly activities such as research, publications, conference participation, or service in professional organizations.
