Tax Specialist – Full-Time Remote

About the role

We are a growing U.S.-based firm seeking a Tax Specialist who wants ownership over their work. This fully remote, full‑time position combines tax preparation, client development, and bookkeeping responsibilities, allowing you to influence firm operations and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 990) using Drake, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Research and apply U.S. Tax Code provisions, identify tax‑saving opportunities, and handle IRS/state correspondence.
• Serve as primary client contact, conduct discovery calls, convert leads, and identify upsell opportunities.
• Review and clean up QuickBooks Online bookkeeping, prepare financial reports, and manage client accounts in QuickBooks, Xero, Drake, and TaxDome.
• Maintain workflow hygiene in TaxDome, draft client queries, and help improve firm SOPs, templates, and processes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience preparing U.S. federal and state tax returns in a CPA firm.
• Strong working knowledge of the U.S. Tax Code, entity structures, and common elections/strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
