Tax Accountant – Corporate Tax Compliance

About the role

The Tax Accountant will support direct tax compliance for Gerdau and its subsidiaries in the United States and Canada. The role involves preparing federal, state, and provincial income tax returns, managing estimated payments, and handling cross‑border tax filings.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare U.S. federal and state, and Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns, including estimated and installment payments.
• Review foreign vendor tax documentation (e.g., Form W‑8) and analyze withholding tax requirements.
• Calculate complex tax provisions, deferred tax analyses, and support quarterly and annual tax provision reporting under IFRS.
• Serve as primary preparer for tax audits and coordinate information requests with divisions, advisors, and tax authorities.
• Maintain transfer pricing documentation, file tax refund and credit claims, and reconcile tax accruals to the general ledger.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• 5–7 years of hands‑on income tax experience, preferably in a multinational manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with tax authorities and internal management.
• Ability to stay current on U.S. and Canadian tax regulations and related legislation.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with SAP, Power BI, and Alteryx.
• Familiarity with tax provision and filing software.
• Knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP tax reporting standards.
