Systems Engineer - Mission Training Center

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering Department for the COSMOS contract at NASA Johnson Space Center. COSMOS provides mission control services, advanced training systems and full-scale spacecraft mockups for astronaut preparation and engineering analysis. The engineer supports design changes to the Mission Training Center (MTC), working with COSMOS and NASA Systems Engineers and Platform/OS Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements, user stories and operations concepts with customers, users and engineers.
• Assess requirements at a high level and facilitate detailed assessments by technical organizations.
• Develop and maintain schedules for work components and create or update design and change documentation.
• Perform post data processing, post data reduction and data mining.
• Carry out system analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to turn customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Lead systems architecture design and integration, and provide systems engineering support to implementing organizations and external customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a similar technical degree plus 0-5 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain a NASA PIV badge.
• Strong initiative, problem-solving and teamwork skills, with a track record of working under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with government and contractor personnel.

Required skills

• Desired: understanding of human spaceflight requirements and knowledge of the NASA JSC Mission Training Center subsystems.
• Desired: experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL workflow tools, agile development, and Office 365 tools.
