Systems Engineer 3 (TS/SCI)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 3 with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph to join its team in the Hanover, MD area. The role provides senior systems engineering leadership for requirements, architecture, interface governance and technical traceability for government-owned training systems, in a fast-paced office environment with tight deadlines. Core working hours are 10:00-14:00.

Key responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering artifact governance: requirements baseline quality, architecture conventions, interface documentation standards and traceability expectations.
• Lead cross-system dependency and interface governance, ensuring interfaces are fully defined, controlled and reflected in architecture and integration artifacts.
• Conduct and document engineering trade studies and analyses of alternatives, including assumptions, constraints, risks and recommended options.
• Provide senior technical review of change impact analyses and ensure requirements-to-verification traceability is defined for QA/test planning.
• Review and approve systems engineering work products for completeness, consistency and technical correctness, and mentor junior systems engineers.
• Review hardware and software lifecycles, and give input to annual and contract-length spend and technical refresh plans.
• Coordinate hardware and software needs across Infrastructure and DevOps teams, and work with procurement and the property manager on purchasing, receiving and distributing assets.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
• Senior systems engineering leadership experience on programs of similar scope, including end-to-end trade studies, requirements and baseline governance, integration strategy and technical risk management.
• Education and experience combinations: doctorate with 20 years, master's with 22 years, bachelor's with 25 years, associate's with 27 years, or high school/GED with 30 years of relevant experience.
• Required certification: Sec+ or equivalent, DoD 8570 IAT Level II.
