Survey Team Leader

About the role

Woolpert is seeking a Survey Team Leader to guide a group of land surveyors and geospatial professionals in Massachusetts. The role combines technical direction, project delivery, and team development in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare surveying and mapping solutions to support project and program requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and delegate tasks to technical team members to ensure quality deliverables.
• Perform complex boundary surveys, develop plats and legal descriptions, and conduct advanced calculations.
• Conduct QA/QC on right‑of‑way plans and ensure accurate survey reports and legal descriptions.
• Develop scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates for survey projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of eight years of land‑surveying experience.
• Massachusetts Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to travel across Massachusetts.
• Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

Required skills

• Trimble software and hardware proficiency.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• MicroStation OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, and GeoPAC platforms.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with registration workflows, noise reduction, meshing, and preparing data for CAD/BIM environments.
