Supervisor – Access Services (Healthcare Clinics)

About the role

The Supervisor – Access Services oversees patient check‑in/check‑out, scheduling, registration, patient portals, e‑requests, EPIC work queues and physician referrals across multiple clinics, including The Orthopedic Spine Hospital (TOSH) and Neurosciences at Jack T. Stephens (NUSL). The role ensures workflow productivity, compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, and provides leadership in the manager’s absence.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of Access Coordinators and Patient Representatives, monitoring productivity, quality and customer service.
• Manage appointment scheduling, rescheduling and cancellations using hospital systems.
• Conduct regular audits, generate reports and develop corrective action plans with the administrative team.
• Provide staff education on scheduling templates, payer rules, Joint Commission standards and emergency preparedness.
• Facilitate annual training, employee coaching, performance evaluations and progressive discipline when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum: High School diploma/GED and seven (7) years of experience in registration, billing or scheduling within a healthcare environment.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare or related field; three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Experience using patient portal and online e‑request platforms.
