Substitute Teacher – Head Start Center (Sikeston, MO)

About the role

DAEOC is looking for a Substitute to support its Head Start/Early Head Start center in Sikeston. The role involves assisting classroom staff with daily operations, ensuring child safety, and providing support for assessments and data entry. This position works on an as‑needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out duties in line with Head Start Performance Standards and program policies.
• Assist classroom staff with daily operations and engage actively in the classroom.
• Support assessments, screenings, and data entry as directed.
• Ensure no child is left unattended and use appropriate voice tone with children, families, and staff.
• Promote Head Start goals, advocate for children and families, and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide parents and the public with literature on Head Start and community resources.
• Maintain First Aid and CPR certification and report any suspected child abuse or neglect.
• Assist in center operations as directed.
• Maintain positive relationships with children and families.

Required profile

• Valid Missouri driver’s license.
• Ability to work on an as‑needed, substitute basis.
• Maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to report child abuse and neglect as required by law.
• Maintain knowledge of Head Start performance standards and policies.
