Subject Matter Expert – Joint Special Operations (USASOC)

About the role

The Subject Matter Expert (Joint Special Operations) will support the planning, coordination and execution of Mission Command Exercises that train Special Operations Forces headquarters and staff. Based at Fort Bragg, NC, the role ensures realistic scenario development and integration of joint and theater-level considerations to enhance collective training outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate and execute Mission Command Exercises for Special Operations forces.
• Create realistic Joint Special Operations scenarios aligned with training objectives.
• Integrate theater-level and Joint Special Operations considerations into exercise design.
• Provide expertise on Joint Special Operations Task Force operations and headquarters functions.
• Assist with audience preparation, operational problem development and after-action reviews.
• Support staff training requirements and advise on operational concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and graduation from a US Army Special Forces, Civil Affairs, Military Intelligence or equivalent qualifying course.
• Completion of a US military intermediate- or senior-level service school and relevant Joint Forces Staff College programs.
• At least two years of experience on Special Operations headquarters staff performing joint operations and one year planning Mission Command Exercises.
• Active Secret security clearance and ability to meet all government security and force-protection requirements.
