Student Technician – Strong Teens for Healthy Schools

About the role

The Non-Affiliated Student Technician supports the implementation of the Strong Teens for Healthy Schools program. Working with project managers, school staff, and AgriLife Research teams, you will deliver health‑focused lessons to middle‑school students across Dallas County.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in all orientation and training sessions provided by AgriLife Research.
• Prepare materials and teach assigned lessons in the Strong Teens for Healthy Schools program.
• Attend weekly meetings throughout the school year to discuss program implementation.
• Complete the Master Wellness Volunteer program.
• Serve as a role model for youth by exhibiting professional behavior.
• Collaborate with school staff, AgriLife Research and Extension personnel, and fellow student implementers to plan and lead the program.
• Provide direct mentor support to assist youth in learning program content.
• Assist with program evaluation, including reports, sign‑in sheets, surveys, and other data‑collection activities.
• Participate in leadership development opportunities and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Motivated to learn and comfortable with public speaking.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to local schools and manage priorities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and professional demeanor.
• Comfortable working with middle‑school youth.
