Student Teacher Supervisor

About the role

The University Supervisor observes and documents the teacher candidate’s demonstration of professional competencies relative to Massachusetts standards and serves as an advocate and resource for the student and school.

Key responsibilities

• Familiarize with policies, expectations, evaluations, and administrative tasks of the student teaching experience.
• Schedule, facilitate, and participate in required meetings with the clinical triad (student teacher, cooperating teacher, and supervisor).
• Provide verbal and written feedback in a timely manner.
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork, assessments, and practicum evaluations.
• Work closely with classroom site and teacher to integrate university curriculum and school philosophy.
• Monitor teacher candidates’ progress, identify areas of concern, and communicate regularly with the Director of Field Placements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education.
• Minimum five years of teaching and/or administrative experience.
• Demonstrated supervisory knowledge of subject matter and teaching methodology.
• Experience in urban and underserved schools preferred.
