Student Recruitment & Retention Specialist

About the role

The Student Recruitment & Retention Specialist supports the Upward Bound program by conducting outreach, recruiting students from low‑income and first‑generation backgrounds, and providing administrative assistance. This temporary position runs through April 2027 with possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic recruitment initiatives, present at feeder schools, and conduct open‑house outreach.
• Assist prospective students and families with applications, conduct eligibility interviews, and process applications promptly.
• Facilitate workshops for newly admitted middle‑school and high‑school students during Saturday College sessions.
• Maintain marketing materials, detailed applicant files, and support program staff during events.
• Provide general administrative support to the Program Director and Office Manager.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and cultural awareness of low‑income, first‑generation student challenges.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Clean driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to multiple school sites.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
