Student Development Specialist III

About the role

The Student Development Specialist III provides direct case management and support to individual students within Texas A&M University’s Student Assistance Services. Working closely with faculty, staff, parents and campus partners, the specialist helps students navigate personal, academic and behavioral challenges while maintaining confidentiality and promoting student well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑on‑one developmental and educational conversations with students, referring them to appropriate university and community resources.
• Manage individual student cases, track trends, and take appropriate follow‑up actions.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff and parents on issues such as behavior, rules, absences and crisis situations.
• Provide follow‑up support for the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and assist with incident documentation.
• Network Student Assistance Services with university colleges, departments and external services to ensure coordinated support.

Required profile

• Background in higher education, student affairs or a related field.
• Demonstrated judgment, attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable, collaborative and able to build relationships with diverse campus stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for student success.
