Staff UI Designer – Lead Website Design

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff UI Designer to own and evolve the digital experience of its corporate website. You will translate complex autonomy and defense technology into clear, scalable web interfaces that work across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

Key responsibilities

• Lead UI design for core website pages, product experiences, landing pages, campaign content, and microsites.
• Define visual and interaction standards, creating a cohesive experience across devices.
• Build and maintain a comprehensive design system in Figma, including component libraries, design tokens, responsive patterns, and documentation.
• Partner with developers to ensure accurate implementation, conduct design QA, and iterate post‑launch.
• Audit existing site experiences to improve consistency, accessibility, and visual quality.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of UI, web, or digital product design experience, with a proven record of leading major website initiatives.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design, responsive web design, and design‑system thinking.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, able to simplify complex technical narratives.
• Ability to balance brand expression, user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto‑layout, variables, prototyping, developer handoff).
• Experience designing for WordPress, WP Engine, or other CMS‑driven environments.
• Hands‑on knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive frameworks, and front‑end implementation constraints.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive interaction patterns.
• Experience creating and maintaining scalable design systems, component libraries, and design tokens.
