Staff Thermal Systems Integration Engineer

About the role

Rhoda AI is seeking a Staff Thermal Systems Integration Engineer to lead thermal management across its robot platform. The role combines system‑level thermal architecture, detailed modeling, integration with mechanical design, and validation in diverse operating environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop system‑level thermal requirements, decompose them to subsystems, and own the thermal management of the entire robot platform.
• Create detailed thermal simulations, including CFD where appropriate, and lead verification against reliability and uptime targets.
• Partner with hardware sub‑teams to ensure thermal requirements are met and cooling devices are optimally placed and sized.
• Collaborate with control and safety engineers to develop thermal management algorithms, derating, shutdown strategies, and integrate thermal constraints into safety analyses.
• Validate subsystem and robot‑level thermal performance, documenting specifications, analyses, simulation results, and test plans for traceability.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of experience in thermal systems analysis, heat transfer, and cooling device design.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience with thermal simulation tools and strong systems‑thinking across mechanical, electrical, and control domains.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with hardware, controls, safety, and product teams.
• Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills for complex thermal issues.

Required skills

• Thermal simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM)
• MATLAB / Simulink for thermal modeling and control co‑simulation
• Python for thermal data analysis and automation
• Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
• Requirements management tools (Flow, DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
