Staff Software Systems Engineer

About the role

Join Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to lead the software quality strategy for next‑generation electric vehicles. As a Staff Software Quality Engineer you will shape the quality framework that underpins vehicle programs across the joint venture.

Key responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and continuously improve the software quality framework, including code coverage standards, static analysis policy, and release quality gates.
• Lead adoption and enforcement of static code analysis standards across firmware and software domains, managing violation workflows and burndown plans.
• Integrate code coverage thresholds into CI/CD pipelines and oversee deviation handling.
• Partner with development leads, domain engineers, and program managers to translate quality requirements into actionable plans.
• Identify early quality risks, own escalation paths, and drive mitigation strategies.
• Align quality processes, tooling, and metrics with Rivian and VWG counterparts to ensure a unified standard.
• Develop documentation, how‑to guides, and training to embed quality as a shared engineering discipline.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software quality engineering within complex embedded or systems software environments.
• Proven ownership of quality frameworks and hands‑on experience with static analysis tools and coding standards such as MISRA C.
• Strong understanding of code coverage concepts and CI/CD pipeline integration.
