Staff Software Engineer (AI)

About the role

The Staff Software Engineer leads a team of engineers building and designing products that customers and associates love. The team works together to create, deploy and support production applications, and the engineer helps with product and tool selection, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring. The role contributes reusable code elements and product documentation, and builds the skills of junior engineers. It is virtual, based in Georgia, with no travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy and maintain software, with a broad view of its value, and deliver consistently under pressure
• Build test suites (functional, destructive, etc.) to enable rapid deployment to production
• Help product and engineering teams, and guide junior engineers on modern frameworks and technical discussions
• Work with the product team so user stories are developer-ready, understandable and testable, and collaborate in agile processes
• Identify team gaps and suggest improvements to make the team more productive

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred
• Ability to lead technical efforts, influence engineering teams and communicate with senior stakeholders

Required skills

• Front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
• An object-oriented language (preferably Java)
• Relational or NoSQL databases, cloud computing, CI/CD tools and modern design patterns
• Data modeling, security frameworks for authorization and authentication, and unit, functional, destructive and performance testing
• Version control, debugging and root cause analysis
• High availability, disaster recovery, performance, efficiency and security design
• Preferred: AI-driven development, automation, technical roadmap exposure and leading cross-functional initiatives

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $120,000 - $190,000.
