Staff Engineer, Manufacturing

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to lead critical manufacturing processes across multiple programs. You will own the design, optimization, and scale‑up of production lines, including a new line for a next‑generation jet, while collaborating with engineering, supply chain, and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize high‑impact manufacturing processes across programs.
• Scale up flagship product lines, balancing throughput, quality, and cost.
• Lead the launch of a new production line for a larger jet, selecting equipment and tooling.
• Scope, procure, and integrate capital equipment, automation systems, and hardware/software tools.
• Mentor engineers and production personnel to build technical depth.
• Drive cross‑functional initiatives that standardize and improve manufacturing performance at scale.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in rapid‑growth or startup environments.
• Proven ability to own and scale production processes.
• Strong understanding of machining, composites, avionics, and assembly processes.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
