Staff Engineer - Fraud Prevention

About the role

Sardine is a leading risk platform that unifies data to stop fraud in real time. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to own and evolve our fraud‑prevention platform, driving technical strategy and mentoring engineers across Consumer and Business Fraud teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for multiple engineering teams and align platform direction with stakeholders.
• Architect, design, and optimise ultra‑low‑latency backend services and a high‑throughput rules engine.
• Define data access patterns, partitioning strategies and caching across a multi‑cloud database ecosystem.
• Build robust pipelines for massive parallel execution of real‑time feature computations and aggregations.
• Shape engineering culture, mentor senior engineers and uphold high technical standards from conception to delivery.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience at Staff, Principal or Lead Architect level.
• Deep expertise in building highly available, distributed systems with ultra‑low latency.
• Hands‑on experience with stream‑processing frameworks such as Kafka, Flink, SQS or PubSub in production.
• Advanced proficiency in polyglot persistence, tuning models across Document, Wide‑Column and Relational databases.
• Strong platform‑engineering mindset focused on reliability, observability and developer velocity.
