Staff Engineer (Cloud & AI Architecture)

About the role

We are looking for a senior‑level Staff Engineer to partner with our CTO on critical architectural decisions and to build the next generation of our AI‑driven coworker platform. This full‑time, on‑site role is based in San Francisco’s Presidio and requires deep experience scaling complex distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Make hard architectural trade‑offs (e.g., Durable Objects vs. Postgres, Cloudflare Workers limits) and own migrations.
• Design and implement the system that handles concurrent AI‑agent sessions across multiple integrations.
• Define reliability and observability standards, including SLOs, error budgets, tracing, and incident response.
• Review significant pull requests, set technical direction and ensure velocity.
• Ship production code daily and build new components as needed.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as an individual contributor engineer, with prior Staff or Principal level roles.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating systems serving millions of users.
• Deep knowledge of distributed state, real‑time streaming, and multi‑tenant isolation from production environments.
• Recent practical work with AI/LLM‑powered agent systems, model routing, or tool‑use architectures.
