Staff Engineer – Autonomy Software Integration

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead software integration for its Hivemind autonomy platform. The role focuses on configuring, deploying, and validating multi‑agent systems across simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, and flight platforms, ensuring customers can build reliable autonomous applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop deep expertise in the AI‑powered autonomy stack and act as the integration authority.
• Configure, deploy, and integrate multi‑agent systems across simulation, SIL, HIL, and flight environments.
• Integrate new autonomy capabilities, including perception pipelines, middleware, and platform interfaces, ensuring seamless interoperability.
• Lead platform bring‑up on new robotic hardware, configuring sensor drivers and communication interfaces.
• Architect integration tooling, deployment scripts, and configuration‑management solutions for SIL, HIL, and flight testing.
• Analyze system logs, telemetry, and rosbag data to diagnose defects and create debugging tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent advanced degree).
• Proficiency in Python and C++ programming.
• Experience with autonomous systems, server applications, or middleware.
• Demonstrated ability to design integration workflows, communicate system dependencies, and triage integration defects across subsystems.
