Job description
About the role
Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots and needs a senior electrical engineer to lead the architecture, design, and execution of advanced multi‑sensor imaging and perception systems.
Key responsibilities
- Architect end‑to‑end imaging and sensing subsystems, selecting cameras, optics, illumination and electrical integration to meet performance, power and cost targets.
- Drive sensor selection across CMOS image sensors, ToF, mmWave radar, LiDAR and thermal modules, evaluating resolution, FOV, sensitivity, latency and SWaP.
- Own the camera signal chain, ISP tuning, RAW/RGB pipelines and high‑speed interfaces (MIPI CSI‑2, parallel RGB).
- Lead sensor‑fusion hardware design combining cameras, depth sensors, radar and LiDAR for perception workloads.
- Specify and review schematics, layouts, BOMs and power‑delivery networks, ensuring signal‑integrity and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Develop characterization and validation plans using lab equipment and statistical qualification methods.
- Collaborate with firmware, ML, mechanical, optical and manufacturing teams to move designs from prototype through DVT, PVT and mass production.
- Mentor engineers, set best practices and represent electrical engineering in architectural decisions.
Required profile
- B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or related field.
- 10+ years (staff) or 15+ years (principal) of industry experience designing electrical/sensor subsystems for shipping products.
- Hands‑on experience taking sensor‑driven products from concept to volume production.
Required skills
- CMOS image sensor architecture, optics fundamentals and ISP tuning.
- Camera interfaces: MIPI CSI‑2/D‑PHY/C‑PHY, parallel RGB, RAW pipelines.
- Depth and ranging sensors: ToF, mmWave radar, LiDAR, thermal imaging.
- Analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout, power delivery and high‑speed signal integrity.
- Lab debugging with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, optical test equipment.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms, GPU/accelerator hardware, FPGA‑based sensor interfacing.
