Staff Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join the finance team of an international watch distributor in Manhattan, NY. The role will support day‑to‑day accounting operations across wholesale, e‑commerce and marketplace channels.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records using SAP Business One.
• Reconcile and post daily transactions for wholesale, e‑commerce, and marketplace activities.
• Coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including reconciliations, cash application, and collections follow‑up.
• Execute incoming and outgoing payments such as ACH, wires, and credit card transactions.
• Complete bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations while preserving organized backup documentation.
• Analyze transaction coding and promptly resolve mispostings or unusual activity.
• Reconcile inventory‑related activity, including landed costs, freight, returns, and inventory adjustments.
• Partner with operations and logistics teams to investigate discrepancies and maintain clean financial data by SKU, vendor, and channel.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and other month‑end close support schedules.
• Streamline accounting workflows, reinforce internal controls, and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and finance leadership as needed.

Required profile

• 3‑7+ years of hands‑on accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience in consumer products, wholesale distribution, retail, e‑commerce, or other inventory‑based businesses.
• Solid understanding of AP & AR processes, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and inventory‑related accounting.
• Experience with inventory‑heavy, SKU‑driven businesses is preferred.
• Exposure to 3PLs, freight, and logistics‑related accounting is preferred.
• Strong working experience in SAP Business One is required.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
