Stability and Controls Engineer, Flight Sciences

About the role

Join BETA Technologies to develop stability, controllability, and handling‑quality requirements for next‑generation electric aircraft, supporting both fixed‑wing and VTOL platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and document aircraft stability, maneuverability, and handling‑quality requirements for normal and failure conditions.
• Create and maintain aerodynamic and flight‑dynamics simulation models of varying fidelity.
• Perform control‑surface layout and sizing studies to meet controllability targets.
• Plan and support wind‑tunnel, laboratory, and flight‑test campaigns, analyzing data to refine models and control‑system designs.
• Collaborate with Flight Test, Systems Engineering, and Certification teams to validate models and support safety and certification activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in aircraft stability, control, flight dynamics, or related analysis and test disciplines.
• US Person status required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MATLAB.
• Proficiency with Python and data‑analysis tools.
