Sports Play-By-Play Announcer

About the role

iHeartMedia is hiring a Sports Play-By-Play Announcer in Mansfield, Ohio. This is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position. The announcer creates, produces and announces topics on the radio, including sports, and must be able to describe and comment on live sporting events.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sport scores, statistics and upcoming game information.
• Write, review and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre-recorded reports, contests and similar material.
• Take part in promotional events.
• May operate the control board for studios and remote programming, and may directly sell advertising space to advertisers.
• Regulate program timing, run syndicated programming and play commercials.
• Monitor the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming, protect the station's license by censoring live programs, process time-out programming and check studio equipment.
• Handle emergency inserts such as news updates, breaking stories and alert system tests.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of experience as an announcer.
• Socially informed and perceptive, with up-to-date knowledge of local and national trends and of sports topics and events.
• Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice with excellent pronunciation.
• Well-rounded communication skills for conducting interviews and making guests feel comfortable on air.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with good command of grammar.
• Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems.
• May require selling skills and other language proficiency, such as Spanish.
