About the role
The Georgia Department of Education is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with blind, deaf, and multi‑disabled students in a residential school setting. The role involves delivering a comprehensive educational program tailored to visually impaired learners across early childhood, middle, and high school levels.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and document each student’s educational needs to create individualized instructional plans.
- Develop and adapt instructional materials and curricula for visually impaired and multi‑disabled learners.
- Integrate assistive technology and innovative, research‑based teaching techniques into daily classroom activities.
- Teach students in Early Childhood (P‑5), Middle School (4‑8), or High School settings.
Required profile
- Georgia Teacher Certificate (or eligibility) in Special Education Adaptive Curriculum and Special Education for the Visually Impaired.
- Knowledge of Alternative/Augmentative Communication (A/AC) systems.
- Basic understanding of computer technology for multi‑disabled learners.
