Software Engineering Manager – Developer Productivity

About the role

LinkedIn is looking for a seasoned engineering leader to drive the next generation of developer productivity tools. In this role you will own critical components of the Automation Platform, shaping how engineers write, test, and ship code across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small team of engineers, guiding performance, career growth, and delivery of high‑impact productivity products.
• Define and execute a long‑term technology roadmap in partnership with senior leadership.
• Act as a technical role model and coach, championing craftsmanship and rapid delivery.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional peers to maintain a shared technical stack and engineering standards.
• Design, build, and operate scalable, high‑volume, 24/7 user‑centric applications.
• Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.

Required profile

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1+ year of management experience or staff‑level engineering experience with management training.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large‑scale engineering.
• Strong bias for action, focus on craftsmanship, and ability to coach engineers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in object‑oriented and/or functional programming languages such as Java, Python, C, C++, or Scala.
