Software Engineer I – Real-time Marketplace Matching

About the role
Join Uber’s core marketplace team as a Software Engineer I, building the algorithms and systems that match drivers with riders in real time. You will work on high‑impact projects across autonomous vehicles, fleet services, taxis and other supply classes, helping to keep the platform reliable and efficient.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimise real‑time matching algorithms for a hybrid marketplace.
- Design, implement and maintain production‑grade backend services.
- Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to solve complex scaling challenges.
- Support core AV matching, hailable/taxi reliability, and fleet matching initiatives.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- Experience building and deploying systems in production environments.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and distributed systems.
