Software Engineer (Front-end and Back-end)

About the role

Amgen is hiring a Software Engineer to contribute to the development and maintenance of its web applications, working on both front-end and back-end technologies. The role suits early-career professionals looking to take on challenges in software development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks, preferably ReactJS.
• Develop and manage back-end services using Python or Node.js, leveraging AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Build or integrate applications with generative AI, LLMs, agentic workflows, RAG patterns or AI orchestration frameworks.
• Create innovative solutions using the latest technologies.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to turn user needs into technical requirements.
• Write clean, efficient, well-tested code, take part in code reviews and give constructive feedback.
• Maintain system uptime and performance, and keep learning new technologies.

Required profile

• Basic qualification: Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of software development experience, or Associate's degree with 6 years, or high school diploma / GED with 8 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering preferred; other engineering fields considered.
• Cloud computing certificate preferred.

Required skills

• Web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Backend development: SQL/NoSQL databases, Python and SQL.
• Good-to-have: API integration, serverless and microservices, vector databases, LangChain or llamaIndex, prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, DevOps CI/CD pipelines, design patterns, TDD.

• Annual salary range of $88,281 to $119,439 in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico).
