Senior Underwriter – Finance

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join a leading U.S. financial services firm that provides working capital and financing solutions to small and medium‑sized businesses. The role focuses on evaluating financing applications, assessing credit risk, and making informed funding recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate SMB financing applications and supporting documentation.
• Analyze business bank statements, cash flow, revenue patterns, existing debt obligations and overall financial health.
• Review credit reports and other third‑party data sources as part of the underwriting process.
• Assess repayment capacity, creditworthiness and overall transaction risk.
• Identify inconsistencies, potential fraud indicators, unusual transaction patterns and other risk factors requiring additional review.
• Prepare underwriting recommendations and communicate decisions to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Direct experience underwriting SMB or commercial financing products in the U.S. market.
• Background in fintech, alternative lending, merchant cash advance, or commercial lending.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to synthesize data from multiple sources.
• Senior‑level expertise with proven ability to assess credit risk and detect fraud.
