About the role
Sempra is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to lead tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities. The role involves reviewing junior staff work, managing filing deadlines, and supporting financial statement disclosures.
Key responsibilities
- Review and approve tax work prepared by junior staff.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions and related disclosures in accordance with ASC 740.
- Respond to tax and financial statement audits, coordinating documentation and responses.
- Research and quantify impacts of existing and proposed tax legislation.
- Develop and maintain tax forecasts, effective tax rate models, and cash tax projections in partnership with FP&A.
- Identify process gaps, propose fixes, and implement solutions to reduce risk and cost.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a large CPA firm or corporate tax department.
- Experience preparing tax provisions and managing multi‑jurisdictional filings.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or master’s in tax preferred.
- Residency in Southern California or willingness to relocate.
