Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the implementation of systems engineering processes for the SPARC and ARC tokamak projects. The role blends mechanical expertise with cross‑disciplinary collaboration to ensure successful design, integration, and operation of critical subsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Elicit, decompose, and maintain traceability of system requirements in a requirements database.
• Coordinate and control interfaces between mechanical subsystems and other system domains.
• Conduct trade studies and present proposals for technical decision making.
• Perform risk assessments using failure modes analysis and develop mitigation plans.
• Manage baseline changes impacting scope, schedule, cost, or performance.
• Develop test plans and document verification and validation evidence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or related engineering roles on large, complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and general understanding of electrical, I&C, and industrial concepts.
• Proven ability to learn new technical domains and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
