Senior System Engineer - AI Safety

About the role

Rhoda AI is developing generalist intelligent robots and seeks a Senior System Engineer to lead AI safety assurance for its humanoid robot platform. Reporting to the Head of Safety and Certification, you will ensure AI‑driven perception, planning, and control meet rigorous safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI‑specific hazard identification and risk assessment using STPA, FMEA, and scenario‑based analysis.
• Assess risks from AI model updates, define safety requirements for inputs, outputs, confidence thresholds, and out‑of‑distribution detection.
• Develop test cases for verification and validation of AI safety and maintain traceability from safety goals to evidence artifacts.

Required profile

• B.S. in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Robotics or related field.
• Experience designing AI‑based safety systems for complex electromechanical products.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML failure modes such as distributional shift, model uncertainty, and unsafe generalization.

Required skills

• STPA and FMEA methodologies.
• Verification and validation of AI safety requirements.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC TS 22440, ISO/PAS 8800, IEC 61508, ISO 26262.
• Experience with vision, time‑of‑flight cameras, and laser sensors.
