Senior System Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our team in Austin, Texas on a contract‑to‑hire basis. The role involves hands‑on management of Windows‑based infrastructure, cloud services and enterprise applications.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Manage Windows environments including servers, desktops, Active Directory, and Azure AD.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively resolve risks.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems.
• Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
• Automate and optimise systems and processes where possible.
• Manage monitoring, asset‑tracking, and deployment tools.
• Implement system updates, patches, and integrations to improve performance and security.
• Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and system standards.
• Contribute to IT projects and initiatives to improve infrastructure reliability.
• Mentor junior team members and promote best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in system administration roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows servers and operating systems.
• Experience managing desktops, laptops, and end‑user environments.
• Expertise with Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Group Policy.
• Experience with Azure and Microsoft 365, including SharePoint administration.
• Familiarity with remote management and monitoring tools (e.g., Pulseway).
• Experience with asset‑tracking systems (e.g., AssetSonar).
• Virtualisation experience with VMware or Hyper‑V.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
• Ability to work hands‑on while contributing to SOP development and process improvement.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
• Preferred: experience with Zoom, Meraki, and scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible).
